About 3 weeks ago I was on site filming a video of a house renovation (and extension) in Wembley for. As my bio on Instagram suggests, one of the main things I love to film is interiors - so I was truly excited for this project. Kim and Jeff are the husband and wife duo behind Studio Atelier who have an undeniable talent. I've been lucky enough to shoot a few of their projects and I have always been in awe of their creative talents. What sets them apart is their ability to understand each of their clients on a personal level which in turn allows them to design a home that will be so intuitive for their lifestyle.
Warm Hearted House - coined by home owners Jinn and Sarah - is nestled in Wembley’s leafy streets. This house reimages a dated Californian bungalow into a bright, nature-connected retreat that reflects the creativity and adventurous spirit of this young family. With a seamless blend of past and present, this home is designed to evolve, offering a welcoming space for life’s changing seasons.
I started filming by going through my shot list as usual. Capturing a range of wides and close ups, the house was filled with artworks, plants, knick-knacks, books and objects collected over the years. This house truly gave me a special look into how I imagine my future home to look and feel ♥︎ Towards the end of the shoot, Kim and I sat down with Jinn and Sarah for an 'interview segment’ which would then be used as the storytelling link throughout the entire video.
One of my favourite features of this home was the rock climbing wall tucked inside the garage - talk about every kid’s dream?! I was so impressed to find out that Jinn built this all from scratch and seeing his daughter so confidently climb up was pretty cool. It reminded me of the saying; competence = confidence. There is truly no better way to build up someone’s confidence than to help them accomplish difficult tasks!
Warm Hearted House will be open for viewing this weekend as part of the Open House Perth event! If you’re interested make sure to register here.
The full video is linked just below on Youtube, it would mean the world if you gave it a little watch!
